| What do I do if my child is ill? | Please telephone the school office on 01732 452475 from 8am, stating your child's name, class and reason for absence. Please do this each day of absence. Write a short note to the class teacher on return to school. |
| What do I do if need to collect my child during school hours for a medical appointment? | Please write a short note to the class teacher prior to the appointment. Sign your child in and out at the office when collecting/returning to school. |
| What time do the gates open and close? | 8:25-9am 3:15-3:30pm |
| What do I do if we arrive late? | Enter school through main reception, sign your child in at the office. Office staff will then take your child to their class. If you think they may be distressed, you are welcome to telephone school to confirm your child has settled once you are home. |
| Can I take my child out of school during term time? | Children may only be taken out of school in very special circumstances and with permission from Mrs Powell. Please write a short note of your request and hand to class teacher. Taking a holiday in term time is discouraged as we are given targets by the government concerning absences. A holiday request form must be filled in and then signed by Mrs Powell |
| What do I do if my child is prescribed medication? | In most circumstances anti-biotic medicine dosage is for 3 times a day. In this instance it can be done before, and after school and at bedtime. However in special circumstances staff may administer medicine. Please ask at school office to discuss our procedures for this. Parents are asked to complete a Health care plan and staff decide whether the administration of medication is feasible. Children with asthma keep their inhalers in the classroom and School Office. |
| How long before they can return to school after an illness? | In the case of sickness and diarrhoea please wait 24 hours after symptoms stop before returning. For details of other infections/illnesses and incubation periods, please ask at school office. These can also be found in the school brochure. |

| Where can I buy water bottles? | Water bottles are available from the school office. |
| Where can I buy school uniform from? | All school uniform, book bags and ruck sacks can be purchased from Your School Uniform. Orders are placed directly with the company and items are delivered to your home. Second hand uniform sales are held 2 or 3 times a year. |
| Can I help in class? | This is by invitation only and you must be in possession of a CRB disclosure certificate. Forms are available from the school office. |
| Can I help on school trips? | As previous question. Your car must have valid insurance, please check with the school office. |
| Can I park in the school car park? | No. In special circumstances such as parent / child disability etc., we will allow parking in the school grounds but a permit must be obtained from the school office. |
| Are there any lunchtime or after school clubs? | Please see the Clubs section in the Parents page to find a full list of all lunchtime and after school clubs. Letters will be sent out informing you of dates and costs. |
| Is there a catchment area? | Catchment areas do not exist. However, a school may indicate whether places have been offered in the past to children in your area. |
| What is the admissions policy? | We offer places firstly to children in care ('Looked After Children') and to children who have special medical needs for attending the school. After this priority is given to siblings of both Riverhead and Amherst and then to children who live nearest to the school. |
| Will any siblings automatically receive a place if I move house? | If you move more than two miles away, your 'sibling link' will be lost for any children who have not yet started at Riverhead. |
